Harpsicord (italian cémbalo) is an instrument with keys. It’s a predecessor of piano from 16th to 18th century period. It has the shape of todays piano, but the strings aren’t hit with hammers as they are being »twitched« by short picks connected to keyboard. It also has inverted colors on keys, the bottom ones are black and top ones are white (just the opposite to piano).
Harpsichord was especially popular in Baroque period. The tracks for it were composed by a famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the golden era of harpsichord, which reached from 17-th till 18-th centoury many authoring schools of harpsichord had shaped, among which the more important ones were german and french.
