Hybrid

The hybrid piano is a relatively new member of the piano family. It is a combination of acoustic and digital piano. The hybrid piano seems to be the best of both worlds – the desired features of acoustic and digital piano are all in one piano. You can enjoy warm acoustic sound or switch to digital mode and enjoy its features.

Although the term hybrid piano is relatively new, the practice of combining elements of acoustic and digital pianos has lasted for more than 35 years. The first hybrids were not new instruments but acoustic pianos modified with MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface). However, they did not have the option to turn off the sound of the acoustic piano.

We basically distinguish hybrids into two types:

– Acoustic-based Hybrids and

– Digital-based Hybrids

The essential difference between an acoustic and a digital hybrid is in how they produce sound. In an acoustic hybrid, sound is produced by the mechanical action of a hammer striking the strings, causing the strings to vibrate. In the case of a digital hybrid, we do not have strings, but it has the mechanics of an acoustic piano, which recreates the experience of an acoustic piano for the pianist. The sound is transmitted in electronic form, by playing a recording that has been recorded from an acoustic piano. Some models can also emit the sounds of many other instruments and non-instruments.
